Eat more taco bell? Yeah, not a good thing.
That said, as someone that just leveled up on the Fresh Brew badge (I drink too much coffee), I’m a fan of the new badges!
I also think it’s a genius move on the part of Foursquare – as you mentioned, the badges/ mayorships have gotten a little stale for many users now that there are so many people on the service. This should not only re-energize users that have slacked off, but also give 4sq a lot of great data on ‘tastemakers,’ those level 10 folks you mentioned, which if played right, could provide some nice fodder for their business development folks to monetize.
…now to figure out how I can get the Douchebag badge… just to say I did it.

Nice post! I think my favorite badge (at least today) is the SxSW Virgin badge from 2011 – the one with Texas on it. I didn’t get to unlock it – so sad!

I don’t think that Gym Rat or Ziggy’s wagon are “expertise” badges as mentioned. As far as the favorite badges, there are too many cool ones, but the “Douchebag” is up there in coolness.

You’re correct, Carlos. Ziggy’s and Gym Rat aren’t expertise badges yet. I was going off another blog that speculated on what badges would become expertise badges. I now have a complete list.

Yes, I went to Taco Bell and got a level4 Hot Tamale… A badge of shame.
Of course, 4sqDay is my fav badge, but I really like I’m on a Boat and Mile High as well. Gym Rat was the hardest, by far.

Turns out I was wrong on the Gym Rat. I’d read speculation that it would be a level-up badge. It’s not. Not yet anyhow. :-/

Good video. I unlocked a couple mallrat levels thanks to the holiday season. I definitely want to unlock the “I’m on a boat” badge!
